Title: Classic noblesse at the highest level

The beyerdynamic engineers made every effort to design the A 2 in a way that it can provide an optimum of audio quality with each headphone. The main board is the heart of the A 2. It is assembled by hand and is only provided with durable, discrete components. Inexpensive integrated circuits, which are usually found in simpler headphone amplifiers, do not meet the quality standards which are important for beyerdynamic to produce a real acoustic talent.
The design of the A 2 provides enough space between the elements which are relevant for the sound to avoid mutual interference. Therefore, the higher channel separation and the low tendency to crosstalk are special advantages of the A 2.
The look of the A 2 is unsophisticated and of high quality. A smooth aluminium frame covers almost the entire device. Another highlight is the anthracite tinted glass panel with the legendary beyerdynamic wave logo on top of the A 2 providing a look into the device. Due to the LEDs, the circuit board appears in a warm light which looks very noble making the A 2 a real enrichment, which appears never out of place, even in noble living rooms.
Against current trends, the headphone amplifier does without integrated digital circuits and is therefore suitable for music lovers who already have a DAC or do not need one.
With regard to the acoustic, we were very excited. [...] In “Dronning Fjellrose” the Norwegian acoustic jazz musicians of the Hoff ensemble thrill with a fine definition and an extremely free treble.
In conjunction with our Ultrasone Edition 12 it works very well and describes a clearly defined, complex virtual room, where every instrument has its exact place. The vocals are integrated fluently and charismatically into the tonal structure. The velocity and the notes of the piano are carefully and precisely presented in detail. In “Stille, Stille, kommer vi”, the next title of the album “Quiet Winter Nights” the A 2 demonstrates its ability to present sound with utmost precision. The wind instruments, the piano and the female vocals are harmoniously and exactly combined. The beyerdynamic headphone amplifier clearly and vividly highlights small details in the back of the acoustic levels.
You got the impression that not only do you listen to music, but immerse yourself into the musical events and to “live” and “breathe” the music. You feel completely surrounded by a fine acoustic, which is very rare and you are able to forget everything around you. The plucking of the strings, fine acoustic elements in the background, the A 2 brings all this to life. The extremely demanding listener will even forget the enormous purchase price for the A 2. Also in “Miss You So”, by Diana Krall, the A 2 operated very well to make clear that it belongs to the best headphone amplifiers available.
The very experienced listener, who might have various noble headphones and appropriate headphone amplifiers, will be astounded at the A 2 sounds so natural, so airy and superior, which especially thrills with instrumental solos such as pianos where it clearly presents even minimal dynamic differences when pressing the keys as if there were nothing easier .
The beyerdynamic A 2 reliably meets the highest demands to the sound quality. With a strict selection of components and a top design it creates ideal conditions to reproduce even the finest acoustic nuances. Especially in conjunction with noble headphones it can distinguish perfectly.
