Always being one step ahead through innovation – that is our goal
Since 1924 the audio specialists at beyerdynamic have stood for technological leadership in the areas of headphones, microphones and conferencing technology. Originally founded in Berlin and with its headquarters now in Heilbronn, the company's roughly 300 employees are working hard carrying on the legacy of company founder Eugen Beyer: the development and manufacturing of products and solutions for audiophiles, demanding musicians and secure communication. The company remains as innovative as ever.
The Scudio technology includes many electronic and mechanical characteristics to eliminate unwanted interferences by wireless mobile devices, where the patented shielding of the capsule in all microphones is an important detail. The interaction of all Scudio features ensures the optimum audio quality and speech intelligibility of all beyerdynamic installation microphones of the new generation.
The T 1 is the first model in a new generation of headphones, equipped with sound transducers featuring the so-called „Tesla Technology“. The transducers (drivers) are completely re-engineered and based on a neodymium ring magnet with optimized magnetic field characteristics. This combination creates a magnetic field inside the transducer which is far stronger (> 1,2 Tesla - measuring unit for magnetic flux density - with current headphones the strength of the magnetic field is < 0,65 Tesla) than in standard headphones. Because of this increased magnetic field, the voice coil is more compact but still provides a very high degree of efficiency. The membrane, consisting of a 3 layer „compound foil“, delivers an extremely precise frequency response and guarantees, in collaboration with the strong magnet, a transparent and distortion free sound.
Despite to what may be assumed, the Tesla-Technology used in our new generation of headphones is not hazardous to your health, since the magnetic field is concentrated within the transducer. Measured directly at the ear, the magnetic field is < 10 mT, which is below the recommendation of the EU; 1999/519/EG - 12.07.1999: Maximum amount (at the whole human body) is 40 mT.

We want to protect people against damaging their hearing. Since the one and only weighting filter does not exist, which reflects the properties of the hearing with all volume levels, we decided to assume the worst case, which means measuring the sound pressures unweighted in dB (SPL). The procedure automatically meets all weighting filters which are provided for low sound pressures (A-, B-, C-weighting). Although passive limiters which operate with an A-weighting allows higher sound pressure level with normal, deep music material before they respond, but the question arises if this really makes sense talking about limiters for high sound pressure levels. In our opinion a limiter should operate to protect the human hearing against damages and operate more conservatively than optimistically. This means the use of a limiter without a weighting filter.

Digital Adaptive Noise Reduction (DANR)
The HS 600 DANR pilot headset with Digital Adaptive Noise Reduction is the latest premium product for the Aviation division. Active elimination of ambient noise is at this point a familiar feature. The HS 600 DANR is a different beast entirely: The world's only aviation headset with intelligent digital – not analogue – noise reduction, making it possible to orient the acoustic countermeasures to a specific target. That allows the wearer to filter out specific disruptive noises without affecting the overall sound. An intensive test phase and the experiences from years of research work flowed into the development of this new product. The success in implementing DANR technology into items like headphones means that it will also see application in other divisions as well.
EarPatron is a patented hearing protection technology for headphones intended to help safeguard customer's health. Unlike devices that simply limit the maximum volume, this technology focuses on the equivalent continuous sound pressure level, known as LEQ. It is the sum of sound waves in terms of duration and intensity to which the user is exposed, consciously or unconsciously. The "Patron" displays the "sound dose" to which the user has been exposed during the measurement period, preventing an overloading and damage of the hearing. EarPatron is currently being used in the SIS interpreting system and for the Headzone Pro XT surround headphone system. An application of the technology in the consumer headphone market is planned for the near future.
The company has also been active in the area of conference technology, turning heads in 2006 with the development of the Revoluto technology, a patented conference system using a row of carefully aligned microphones.
Mimic and gesture are important features in any conversation. beyerdynamic placed great importance on this awareness during the development of their Revoluto microphone unit. Thanks to the patented microphone array technology, in which several microphone capsules are connected to each other, a gooseneck microphone will not be required. This technology also facilitates a substantially greater voice zone – even if the speaker leans back or rises from their seat and/or turns to their dialogue partner on their left or right, the audience will experience optimal voice quality and continuous volume. you may look forward to more room for content.
The “Headzone®“ 5.1 surround-sound headphone system is the first mobile headphone system in the world to offer professional monitoring with virtual 5.1 playback. The sound quality is on a par with a real 5.1 speaker arrangement. “Headzone®“ provides a fantastic solution to all well known problems surrounding headphones, such as locating the sound source “within” the head, lack of spatial information and movement of the sound with the head. The basis for this technology is advanced digital signal processing (DSP), combined with patented ultrasonic-headtracking.
Today also a home version of the “Headzone®“ headphone system is available for hifi enthusiasts’ private use, i.e. for use with home cinema, playing back surround music productions or gaming.

Back in 2003 beyerdynamic announced MANUFAKTUR, the world's first headphones build to reflect each user's individual combination of product characteristics like colour, materials and technical components. This concept was expanded in 2009 to include the Microphone MANUFACTUR and in-ear headphones tailored to the user's specific ear.
The big amount of manual work in the production makes it easier to meet individual customer’s requests without a big additional expense. Following the philosophy “class instead of mass” the idea of small series manufactured according to customer’s requests is still to be expanded in future.
